Best green chile soup in El Paso…and more
Cafe Central offers a seasonal menu with a contemporary southwest flair and dramatic presentation. Of course, we all started with their highly-touted signature dish, the cream of green chile soup. It was spectacular, made with heavy cream and just the right amount of spiciness. This dish alone was worth the stop at Cafe Central in downtown El Paso.
But there’s more to Cafe Central than the best green chile soup in El Paso. My Grilled Angus Rib-eye with chipotle lime butter literally melted in my mouth. The Linguini Fra Diavolo, Lobster Ravioli and Lobster Gruyere Mac and Cheese got raves, as well, from other members of our party.
Dessert, or brandy and cigars on the patio?
At the meal’s end, we opted to share the opulent Dessert Platter – Crème Brulee, Chocolate Mousse Tower with Caramel Sauce, Orange Bavarian-filled Tart with Berries, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, and Petite Éclair. These desserts were good enough, but if you want a special dessert that’s yours alone – no sharing – you can’t go wrong with Cafe Central’s Mango Colada Pie. And for those who don’t share my inexorable sweet tooth, I noticed that brandy and cigars are available for those who wish to indulge on the outdoor patio.
